When Volkswagen AG developed their new global retail concept (VRC), Volkswagen UK was the first to adopt and implement the new brand.  Harkess-Ord was appointed to Partner VW UK in the rebuilding and rebranding of their 300 showrooms. 

As well as playing a key role in the education and communication of the new brand to VW’s Retailer network, we were responsible for the three-dimensional interpretation of the brand elements for the UK marketplace.

While a key focus was the cost of implementation, the quality standards set by VW AG also needed to be met.  Harkess-Ord’s engineering team set about reviewing every product, looking at new or alternative technologies from outside the traditional supply industries to leverage high quality but lower cost elements.  We achieved savings across a wide range of high-cost elements by introducing technologies from mainstream engineering and applying an OEM supply chain procurement approach.

Our role extended to program management of all site works activities – whether building a new showroom from ground up or complete refurbishment of existing facilities.  Following the disciplines of construction management, we were fully responsible for scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, risk management and site health & safety.
