Following Oracle’s acquisition of Sun Microsystems in 2010, Harkess-Ord were appointed to develop and deliver a complete site branding program at 140 locations, in 27 countries within 10 months. The starting point was the completion of a focussed network survey program highlighting specific characteristics, technical details and branding requirements for each site. This information was used in conjunction with Oracle’s brand standards guidelines as the basis for the development of a new sign family and site branding system that would both improve brand presentation and product performance while reducing product and maintenance costs and implementation timescales.

The new system was fully developed within 4 weeks, including all detailing, specifications and the production of full application guidelines. The rationalisation of Oracle’s existing products into a simple and coherent system which could be efficiently and centrally manufactured and quickly and easily installed brought significant cost savings. The system was also developed for minimum maintenance and the use of centrally located manufacturing facilities geared up for rapid large scale production brought further efficiencies as well as significantly reducing shipping costs and duties.

The project was completed with all sites fully re-branded within the allotted 10 week schedule. Oracle have underlined the benefits of Harkess-Ord’s centralised turn-key approach which has delivered estimated cost savings within the region of 35% from their previous program with additional ongoing savings made from reduced maintenance.
